Intraocular lens therapy is a method of treating cataracts and refractive errors in the eye. In this procedure, lenses made using special technology are implanted in the eye to replace the natural crystalline lens.
Advantages of intraocular lens surgery
Intraocular lens surgery can be used to treat refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. By removing the lens in the eye and replacing it with a multi-focus lens, refractive errors can be treated, while cataracts can be treated if there is a cataract problem in the eye.
How is intraocular lens surgery performed?
The method used is called clear (transparent) lens exchange. Intraocular lens treatment is performed by making a 3mm incision and placing the lens inside the eye. The implanted lens will assume its normal shape with body temperature.
